An Important Step from Dardanel Towards University-Industry Collaboration
Dardanel Group of Companies Signs Protocol with Onsekiz Mart University and Çanakkale Ezine Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone
Under the signed protocol, Dardanel is establishing a Center of Excellence for Application and Research in the allocated area within the Ezine Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone.
The Center will focus on R&D and innovation projects, nutritional analysis, chemical and microbial testing, as well as tests and experiments related to macro and micro components.
As part of the agreement aimed at fostering university-industry collaboration, Dardanel will construct the state-of-the-art Center of Excellence comprising 19 advanced laboratories for food industry R&D and innovation activities. Once completed, the facility will be made available to food companies operating in the Çanakkale region.
The protocol was signed at Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) in the presence of ÇOMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, Dardanel Founder and Chairman Niyazi Önen, and Ezine Food Specialized OIZ Manager Alper Altınok.
“Our University Will Host a Center of Excellence”
Emphasizing the importance of the protocol for university-industry collaboration, ÇOMÜ Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu stated:
"Establishing a Center of Excellence was a great idea developed by the Ezine Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, and together we’ve brought this idea to life. The center will provide workspaces for food companies in the Ezine Food Specialized OIZ, a venue for R&D projects, and most importantly, accredited sensory analysis laboratories conducting international-level studies.
Additionally, we are implementing 3+1 education models at our Ezine Vocational School of Higher Education, transforming this center into a natural educational hub. I thank everyone involved, particularly the Dardanel Group of Companies.”
“We Value University-Industry Collaboration”
Niyazi Önen, Founder and Chairman of Dardanel, commented:
“As a group that manufactures, provides employment, and contributes value to both our region and country, we have begun working on a $250 million investment to establish three separate factories on 120 acres of land in the Ezine Food Specialized OIZ.
With next-generation production machinery and automation technologies, we aim to enhance our production capacity and product range. R&D and innovation are among our strongest assets, and the Center of Excellence we’ll establish in collaboration with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University will be vital for R&D, product development, and food analysis.
This center will be highly beneficial for food companies in our region, and we hope our efforts set an example for other university-industry collaborations.”
