According to the Food Compass, opt for tuna and seafood for a healthy meal

As healthy living becomes a global trend, food preferences and eating habits are changing accordingly. There are many researches and studies conducted worldwide on which foods to consume and which ones to avoid. The latest of these is the Food Compass system developed in the USA... A team from Tufts University's Department of Food Science and Policy examined and scored 8,000 foods and beverages based on their nutritional values over three years. With the Food Compass, considered one of the most comprehensive studies in the food field, results were revealed to guide those who adopt healthy eating habits.

Among the healthiest lunch and dinner options in the study were seafood choices. For a light, tasty, and healthy meal; a tuna salad prepared with a small amount of mayonnaise (75 points) and mussels with tomato sauce (95 points) were recommended. Also, spaghetti with seafood in tomato sauce was classified as healthy food with 78 points. The top score of 100 points was given to a seafood salad prepared with lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and other desired vegetables. Salmon also ranked among the healthiest foods with 100 points. Salmon can be purchased marinated and prepared conveniently or consumed smoked.

Can be consumed in every season, complements many dishes

Stressing the importance of fish and seafood, the most natural source of protein, with the rising trend of healthy eating post-pandemic, Dietitian Berrin Yiğit said: "Nowadays, when we say dinner, we don't just think of meat and starchy carbohydrates. Increasingly, more people are opting for seafood. Especially tuna; besides being a complete protein source, it contains valuable minerals such as rich Omega-3 fatty acids and selenium. It strengthens immunity and metabolism. It is also a very valuable source of D and B vitamins. Tuna, which has low saturated fat content and high nutritional value, should definitely be included in the meals of those who work intensively, exercise, or want to lose weight. It is a practical, tasty, and very healthy food that can be consumed in every season and complements many different foods from greens to pasta."

Emphasizing the importance of consuming fish from the right source, Yiğit said, "To benefit from the advantages of tuna to the fullest; you can consume fresh, additive-free, and preservative-free products from tuna fish raised in the pristine waters of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, which are produced in Çanakkale, reliably." You can learn where your fish comes from and safely bring it to your tables through the Fish Inquiry application.

Tuna for strengthening immunity during the school season

Tuna, which plays an important role in the adequate and balanced nutrition of people of all ages, ensures the development of children's muscles and bone structures, strengthens their immunity, and makes them more alert. Especially the Mediterranean miracle olive oil tuna should be included in every child's nutrition program during the school season. While easy-open lid products are a convenient option, it is recommended that children consume tuna at least twice a week to support their intelligence development and protect them from winter illnesses.
